Overview

Background

SPARK (Society for Participatory Action Research and Knowledge) is a registered organization under Indian Trust Act 1882. The organization is working among marginalized, destitute, disadvantaged and under privileged section of the society since 1998. 66 villages of Kuru block of Lohardaga district is the direct implementation area of the organization. The working area is backward and community comprises scheduled tribe, scheduled caste and backward class and minority class people.

The objective of the organization is to ensure women's right, promote sustainable livelihood at village level and promoting quality education and health care facilities. The people are poor, illeterate and far away from the mainstream. The major issue in which the organization is working is quality Education program, Women epowerment, Violence against women, Sustainable livelihood, Health awareness, Women and child development, Natural resource management, Study and Research.

Major Objectives

Quality and relevant education to marginalized people of Kuru block is one of the major areas of concern of our organization during the year. The school going children of 6-14 years age group and dropout students of 15-18 years age group taken for quality education in Govt. schools as well as skill building training to dropout students of age group 15-18.

Violence against women and leadership development of women are the major thrust of our work in 15 districts of the state. The domestic violence against the women is addressed and also leadership quality among women, we are advocating for effective implementation of PWDVA 2005 and Jharkhand women policy in the state.

Child marriage is a major concern of the area and to prevent child marriage and early union program started in Kuru block of Lohardaga district from last 3 years.

Skill building training to boys and girls/youths in Lohardaga district has been done during last 5 years on tailoring, embroidery,and painting to girls and basic computer course to boys and girls, mobile repairing course, cycle repairing and electric wiring course to 600 youths.

Forum to engage men to address gender quality, child rights, and violence against women is one of the areas of Work during the year. 200 villages from 13 districts covered under this program.

Health awareness program for mother and child health, immunization, family planning, TB, Malaria, and diarrhea, and also awareness on STD/HIV/AIDS through the existing CBOs like SHG, FC, Jagruk Samiti, etc.

Sustainable agriculture development and environmental protection program in which farmers have been give trining on agriculture practices, and plantation. Farmers club promoted in the working area.

Social harmony program are the other thrust areas of the organization.

It is more tha 20 years SPARK is working in Jharkhand state, apart from the above there are other campaign activities linked in during 16 days of activitism (25th November to 10th December) every year we organize events for women and girls. We also celebrate the important days like Women's Day, Children Day, Human Rights Day, and other related issues.

SPARK has young professionals along with social activists team dedicated to work for the noble cause.

At present we are trying to contribute to achieve the Sustainable Development goals in this regard we are committed to do our best.

SPARK envisages an egalitarian and just society by focusing on empowerment of women and children, and management of Natural Resources.
To enhance the status of Women and Children where they can live with dignity, respect and healthy lives and can contribute to the development of society/nation, Development of sustainable agriculture, Environmental protection and conservation of village eco-system for ecological balance.
