Advocacy is one of the important areas on which SPARK is regularly involved as a part of its strategy.

We take advocacy at different levels:

• Community advocacy
• District level advocacy
• State level policy advocacy

The advocacy issues covered so far:

• Formation of PWDVA (Before the Act)
• Implementation of PWDVA 2005 (After the formation of the Act)
• State women policy
• Agriculture policy of Jharkhand
• Water policy
• Effective implementation of Right to Education Act 2009

From the begining SPARK is working on issue-based advocacy at policy level focusing on women issue. We are working on the issue of violence against women and gender issues since the year 2000 and advocating for the rights of women at policy level. Before PWDVA we have advocated with the alliance of Action India and after the Act came regularly, we are advocating with Jharkhand Govt. for the effective implementation of PWDVA 2005 in the state. Apart from we also take the issue of Jharkhand women policy in priority.

During 2010 panchayat election conducted in Jharkhand after a gap of 32 years and 57% of women elected. Now we are taken the power devolution to PRI as an advocacy issue.

Besides, we have also advocated for agriculture policy and water policy of the state and effective implementation of RTE 2009 is another area of our work.
